Chen Yucheng

Chen Yucheng born in Guangxi, was a Chinese general during the Taiping Rebellion and later served as the Heroic Prince of the Taiping monarchy in the later stages of the rebellion, his famous nickname was four eyes dog, The because below his eyes have two moles look like eyes from far and Qing soldiers affraid him.

Born to a peasant family around 1836, Chen Yucheng joined Taiping forces during the March to the Yangtze in 1851. Although around 15 at the time of his enlistment, Chen would quickly rise through his bravery and demonstrated tactical skill and by 1856, in the aftermath of an internal straggle within the Taiping leadership, Ch'en was promoted to general.

Commanding a series of successful operations west of Nanking between 1856 and 1858, Chen was awarded the title of Ying Prince of the Taiping Kings the following year. Cooperating with General Li Xiucheng, Chen organized a second siege of Nanking in 1860, he later advanced northwest leading one half of a pincer movement in an offensive against Imperial forces in 1861, however, due to the poor coordination of Taiping forces, Chen was thrown on the defensive and eventually forced to withdraw. Following this defeat, Chen was later betrayed and executed by Imperial forces in May 1862.

Chen‘s prominent ability of military that made Qing government want he surrender, but Chen refused. Before executed he sigh with emotion said: that comes true unluckly.

Wuhan:Strategy's mistake


On february 1861 Chen Yucheng led 100,000 troops prepare to attack Wuhan but Harry Smith Parkes in Wuhan and opposite Chen‘s act, that made Taiping troops gave up plan and retreated that was a big mistake on Strategy, because Xiang Army concentrate all forces attack Anqing and if Chen could attack Wuhan that means cut off Xiang Army's back, it could be changes whole war good to Taiping suddenly but Chen doesn't.
